MoU Signed to Boost Veteran Services Across India with Digital Power and Quality Checks

August 28, 2025

In a big step to honor our heroes, the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare (DESW) under the Ministry of Defence signed a bright new pact with the Quality Council of India (QCI) on August 26. This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) promises to bring fresh energy to the way over 63 lakh veterans and their families get pension, healthcare, help with jobs, and welfare aid. The Ministry of Defence announced that QCI will lend a helping hand by using smart digital checks, impact assessments, and solid data to guide better policies. On the flip side, DESW will give QCI access to data and link up important players like State Governments, district sainik boards, Armed Forces Headquarters, and approved hospitals. What’s cooking? This teamwork will make hospital care sharper, open more doors for veterans to find jobs or start businesses, and firm up the local sainik boards’ strength. At the signing event, Niten Chandra, the Secretary of DESW, was all fired up about using digital platforms, Artificial Intelligence, and social media to reach veterans better and deliver services quickly and well. He said, “The collaboration with QCI would help in system optimisation, strength monitoring, and ensure evidence-based improvements across schemes.” The MoU was inked by Joint Secretary and OSD PP Sharma from DESW and Secretary General Chakravarthy Kannan of QCI. The function saw top officials from DESW, the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Kendriya Sainik Board, Service Headquarters, and the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers, along with QCI, come together to mark this new beginning. This sparkling partnership is ready to empower our veterans with better support, faster service, and new hope. After all, our heroes deserve nothing less than top-class dignity and care!
