The First Additional District and Session Court on Wednesday convicted a 28-year-old man from Tirthahalli taluk for abducting and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl. The survivor's mother complained to the police, leading to a case under the POCSO Act and IPC sections. Police Inspector Ashwath Gowda investigated and filed the charge-sheet. The court sentenced the accused to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a penalty of ₹1.3 lakh. Additionally, the court ordered a compensation of ₹4 lakh for the survivor.
