A Hong Kong court granted bail on Wednesday to Lee Kai-po, 63, the driver charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm. Lee is suspected of deliberately crashing his coach on the Shenzhen Bay Bridge on Sunday. The crash injured 17 passengers. Lee appeared in West Kowloon Court and was released on bail set at HK$50,000 (US$6,370). He must surrender his driving licence and cannot leave the city. Magistrate Tobias Cheng Yun-chung said Lee's family should "pay extra attention" to his condition. The case was adjourned to April 29 at prosecutors' request. Lee's coach was heading to Kwun Tong with 25 passengers onboard when it hit the bridge railings. The injured included eight men and nine women aged between 25 and 64. Most are Hong Kong residents, but among the injured are a man and two women from mainland China and a woman with a US passport. Victims were treated at Tuen Mun and Tin Shui Wai hospitals. The accident caused partial lane closures on the bridge.
