A horrifying tragedy unfolded in Cherating Damai, Kuantan, Malaysia. Early Wednesday morning, a man allegedly killed his wife, mother, and two young daughters using a sharp weapon before ending his own life. Police say a brother who witnessed the event heard arguing around 7am before discovering the bloody scene. Kuantan Assistant Commissioner Ashari Abu Samah described, “When the witness came out of the room and looked towards the kitchen, he found his mother covered in blood and screaming for him to go seek help from his uncle.” The uncle and witness then rushed to the home, finding the suspect and victims all unconscious and covered in blood. The house was home to eight family members. At the time, six were present, including the 32-year-old suspect, who worked as a security guard, his wife Nurul Asshiykin Kamaruzaman, 33, their daughters Nur Saffiyah Humairah, four, and Sumayah, three, and their mother, Tuan Kamaria Tuan Puteh, 55. Police investigation revealed the suspect first attacked his wife, then his mother and daughters with a 29cm knife, before trying to harm himself. All died at the scene. Injuries included wounds on hands, ears, and neck. The suspect had no history of mental illness or prior crimes, per authorities. Postmortem examinations were completed by 4pm at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital. The bodies were claimed by relatives and taken for funeral prayers at Cherating and Sungai Ular Mosques. All are scheduled to be buried at Kampung Budaya Cherating Islamic Cemetery. The community remains in shock over this tragic loss.
