Here’s some juicy corporate drama with a clear twist! Reliance Power snapped back loudly saying that Bank of Baroda labeling Reliance Communications’ loan account as fraudulent won’t disturb its peace. The Banking giant has also tagged Anil Ambani for alleged misuse of loans given over a decade ago. But Reliance Power stands tall, stressing it’s a totally different company. In a crisp official statement, Reliance Power made it clear: “The recent action by Bank of Baroda to classify the loan account of Reliance Communications and Anil D Ambani as fraud has no impact on the business operations, financial performance, shareholders, employees, or any other stakeholders of Reliance Power.” So that drama belongs to RCom, not Reliance Power. Don’t forget, Reliance Power and Reliance Communications have zero business or financial links. Plus, Anil Ambani has not been on Reliance Power’s board for more than 3.5 years. The tainted loan saga goes way back—more than 10 years! Meanwhile, RCom is under the watchful eyes of a Committee of Creditors led by SBI, with a professional managing the mess. This whole loan fraud matter is still tangled up in courts, including the NCLT and Supreme Court, for the past six years. Bank of Baroda hit the news on September 2 by officially calling the loan account of RCom and its promoter Anil Ambani “fraud.” Here’s the money drama in numbers: Bank of Baroda had sanctioned Rs 1,600 crore plus Rs 862.50 crore in a line of credit to RCom. Out of the total Rs 2,462.50 crore, a hefty Rs 1,656.07 crore remains unpaid as of August 28. These figures were revealed in RCom’s regulatory filing following Bank of Baroda’s letter. To sum it up, Reliance Power is drawing a clear line, saying this fraud tag is not their burden. Ambani’s past with RCom’s loan troubles won’t rock Reliance Power’s ship! Drama continues as courts take their time to decide. But for now, Reliance Power stays strong and steady.
