Bam! Arvind Kejriwal, AAP's national convener, fired a sharp blast at Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. Why? Because the US government decided to slap a massive $100,000 fee on H-1B visa applications. That's a shocking jump from the previous $1,000–$5,000! This could hit Indian techies in America like a thunderbolt. Kejriwal took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and questioned the Prime Minister’s power to protect Indians abroad. In Hindi, he wrote, “Prime Minister ji, do something at least.” He also asked, “Why is the Prime Minister of 140 crore people so helpless in the end? Can't you handle anything at all?” Words that ring loud and clear. This tough new rule was signed off by former US President Donald Trump on Friday. The $100,000 fee is way more than the median annual salary of a new H-1B visa holder and even more than 80% of all H-1B holders’ average salary. Ouch! India, which holds 71% of these visas, could feel the sting the most. Right now, about 300,000 skilled Indian workers, mainly from the tech world, are in the US on H-1B visas. India’s Ministry of External Affairs responded cautiously, saying it’s carefully studying the impact. They warned that this tough new fee could have “humanitarian consequences” by breaking up families and causing serious trouble. The MEA also praised the value of skilled talent moving between India and the US, saying this exchange helps both countries grow in technology, economy, and innovation. So, the big question remains: Will PM Modi step up and do something for the millions of Indians affected? Or will this new US visa fee leave dreams shattered and careers stuck? Stay tuned as this story unfolds. The drama of diplomacy and tech careers hangs in a delicate balance, and the eyes of millions are watching closely.
