Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh – The education department is not letting anything slide! On Saturday, a big review meeting shook things up by examining 203 appeals against the July 20 teacher transfer order that affected many teachers across the state. These transferred teachers come from many ranks: primary teachers, trained graduate teachers, postgraduate teachers, physical education teachers, and block education officers. Teachers filed appeals for many reasons like spouse postings nearby, health problems, past hard-area service, and special education roles. Chaired by Education Commissioner Amjad Tak, and joined by key officials like Secondary Education Director Tanyang Tatak and Elementary Education Director Tani Talom, the meeting focused on fairness and transparency. The goal? To follow the newly minted Teachers’ Transfer and Posting Policy, 2025, and protect students’ academic interests while keeping teacher satisfaction alive. Of the 203 appeals, 120 were sent forward for medical checks to the state medical board at Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences. These reviews include 45 PRTs, 126 TGTs, 8 PGTs, 2 PETs, and 2 BEOs. Physical verification will happen from September 23 to 25. The department made one thing very clear: special role holders like Booth Level Officers, NCC Caretaker Officers, and Scout & Guide Coordinators can’t avoid transfers just because of their positions. Heads up! Formal head teacher posts are being created officially. For now, teachers in these roles on a temporary basis won’t hold on to them until official appointments happen purely by seniority. Good news for teachers close to retirement — their appeals were taken seriously, and some will get to stay on compassionate grounds. Also, teachers with kids in crucial board exam years (class 10 or 12) will get a temporary stay until exams finish, after which they must join new posts or face disciplinary action. Merit won the day for a few: 2 PRTs and 10 TGTs got merit-based retention. All others, except those pending medical clearance, must move fast to their new postings. This whole transfer review is being called one of the most careful and clear processes ever! It involved everyone from clerical staff to top directors and was overseen personally by the education commissioner. It heavily relied on district data and stuck strictly to the 2025 policy rules. Watch this space — a fresh transfer order with all the medical board’s advice is coming soon. District directors have strict orders to follow it without a moment’s delay. So, the teacher transfer saga in Arunachal Pradesh is getting a new twist with fairness and clarity leading the way!
