Get ready for a cleanliness and good governance bonanza! The Indian Government's Special Campaign 5.0, spearheaded by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), is roaring ahead with full energy. Preparations started from September 15 to 30, and now the action-packed implementation will take place from October 2 to 31, 2025. What’s happening behind the scenes? Ministries and departments have nominated nodal officers in every office, PSU, and autonomous body to lead the charge. These officers are trained and busy! They’re checking the piles of electronic, automobile, and office scrap screaming for disposal. They’re also planning how to tidy up office spaces, boost digitisation, improve sanitation, and make offices more inclusive. Even record management is part of this clean-up drive — sorting old papers and keeping only what’s important. All this hard work is tracked in real-time on the Special Campaign 5.0 online portal, where ministries upload their progress and targets. To bring the past alive, the National Archives of India will host a dazzling "Sushasan aur Abhilekh Exhibition" from October 10 to 14, spotlighting the rich history of central ministries with priceless archival records. A high-voltage meeting chaired by Secretary DARPG V. Srinivas saw over 190 senior officers from 84 ministries review the campaign’s progress. The National Informatics Centre (NIC) also wowed nodal officers by demonstrating the SCDPM 5.0 portal’s features for data uploads and progress checks. Big names like the Ministry of Defence, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Ministry of Culture, Department of Health and Family Welfare, and Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC) shared their shining success stories from the last campaign and unveiled exciting plans for this year. The buzz is real! Over 300 tweets and 45 statements from the Press Information Bureau have fired up awareness across electronic, print, and social media. This widespread enthusiasm shows that Special Campaign 5.0 is not just a task but a movement. To top it off, DARPG will publish a collection of the best practices during Good Governance Week 2025 to inspire even more action. So, watch out for shining offices, cleared scrap yards, and a wave of Swachhta spirit sweeping the nation this October. India’s step towards cleaner, smarter, and better governance is definitely on the fast track!
