PM Modi Unveils ₹5,100 Crore Projects in Arunachal, Promises Power, Jobs & Development Boost

September 24, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi fired a sharp salvo at the Congress party on Monday, saying that tribal regions and northeast border villages paid the highest price for neglect by earlier governments. "Villages near the border were dismissed as 'last villages,'" he claimed, "which caused constant migration from these tribal and border areas." Modi spoke these words while laying the foundation stone and inaugurating projects worth more than ₹5,100 crore in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. The PM revealed plans for two new power projects that will boost Arunachal’s reputation as a power hub. These plants will create jobs and provide affordable electricity, fueling more development. During his visit, Modi mingled with local entrepreneurs and members of self-help groups, showing his close connection with grassroots efforts. He also toured an exhibition at Indira Gandhi Park, chatting with the people and soaking in the local spirit, according to officials. The PM painted a vivid picture, reminding everyone that Arunachal Pradesh is the first to greet the sun each day but sadly endured decades of slow development. He criticized Congress for dodging tough development tasks that would have benefited Arunachal and the entire northeast region. Modi pointed out how difficult terrain, mountains, and forests led Congress to label many districts as "backward" and ignore them. But now, he said, those very districts are called "aspirational districts" with special focus for growth. The border "last villages" have been crowned "first villages" of the nation. On tourism, Modi added exciting news. Arunachal’s appeal goes beyond nature and culture. With the global boom in conferences and concerts, he announced a new, modern convention centre in Tawang. This will add fresh sparkle to the state’s tourism scene, opening new doors for visitors and locals alike. With a mix of criticism and promise, Modi’s visit highlighted a new chapter for Arunachal Pradesh — one shining with power, progress, and pride.
