London witnessed a vibrant moment when India’s Olympic Association delegation, headed by Gujarat’s Sports Minister Harsh Sanghavi, stepped into the spotlight to submit a sparkling proposal for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. The city chosen to host this roaring centenary celebration? Ahmedabad! The Indian team, including the legendary Indian Olympic Association president P T Usha, made the pitch on Tuesday to the Commonwealth Sport’s Evaluation Committee. Why is the 2030 Games so special? It marks an incredible 100 years of the Commonwealth Sport Movement—a true sporting century! Gujarat's government proudly stated that Ahmedabad is ready to shine with its compact games plan featuring international-standard venues, smooth transport, and top-notch hotels. What makes India’s bid sparkle? The proposal follows the exciting Games Reset principles, focusing on affordability, inclusivity, flexibility, and environment-friendly plans. It promises to fully include para-sports, protect human rights, push for gender equality, and build a lasting legacy benefiting athletes, local communities, and the whole Commonwealth. Minister Harsh Sanghavi fired up the crowd with words soaked in pride: "Hosting the Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad will be a proud milestone, not just for Gujarat but for India. We see these Games as a catalyst - to inspire our youth, accelerate our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047, and strengthen the Commonwealth Movement for the next 100 years." P T Usha, the IOA president, added excitement by saying, "India's bid is not just about capability, but about values. Ahmedabad is ready to pick up the baton from Glasgow 2026 and act as a springboard to the 2034 Games, ensuring that the centenary edition honours the past while shaping the future of Commonwealth Sport."
