Amit Shah Vows Zero Ceasefire: Maoism to End by March 2026, Surrender Welcomed on Red Carpet

September 29, 2025

New Delhi turned fiery on Sunday as Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a bold statement — no ceasefire for Maoists! Speaking at the grand valedictory session of 'Bharat Manthan-2025: Naxal Mukt Bharat' held at Vigyan Bhavan, Shah squashed rumors of any secret talks with the banned CPI (Maoists). He said, "There will be no ceasefire." The goal? Completely wipe out Maoism from India by March 31, 2026, and he is dead serious about it. Shah painted a clear picture of the government’s battle plan. It’s a smart mix of tough security operations, fast-paced development projects, and political outreach. And guess what? The results are rocking! Compared to 2004-2014, there has been a whopping 70% drop in deaths of security personnel and an 85% fall in civilian casualties across Maoist-hit areas from 2014 to 2024. That's huge! Highlighting the recent crackdown, Shah revealed that as many as 18 central committee leaders of CPI (Maoists), the top guns, have been killed by security forces. Plus, 10,500 Maoists have thrown in the towel and surrendered. Hundreds more have been arrested or eliminated. Shah stressed, "We don't want to kill anyone," showing a softer side by encouraging cadres to lay down arms with open arms — "Those who want to surrender and want to leave violence will be welcomed on a red carpet." Rehabilitation is promised as a key part of the surrender policy. Another sharp strike against the insurgents? The sharp fall in arms supplies since 2019. This choking of weapons has hit the Maoists hard. Shah also raised the curtain on the ideological and societal fight behind the gun battle. He asked who helped the Maoists with ideas, money, and legal support. "Who helped LWE ideologically, who financed them, aided them socially and legally - we need these Maoists to come forward," he urged. Throwing a surprising twist, Shah pointed to West Bengal where Maoism thrived until the Left parties ruled. But as soon as the BJP took charge there, Maoism virtually vanished. This, he suggested, is proof that political will can snuff out this menace. In short, Amit Shah’s message is clear, strong, and masaledar: no talks, no tolerance, but a warm welcome for those who choose peace over violence. The countdown to a Naxal-free India has begun!
