Indian Exports Sparkle in 24 Nations, Outsmart US Tariffs with New Market Charm!

October 20, 2025

New Delhi: India's export story is becoming vibrant and colorful! Even as shipments to the US dropped due to steep 50% tariffs, Indian exporters scored big wins in 24 other countries during April-September 2025-26. This cool mix of markets is helping India bounce back with export growth. Imagine this: From Korea, UAE, Germany to Brazil, Vietnam, Nigeria, and Mexico – Indian goods are flying off shelves across these 24 nations. Together, they raked in a whopping USD 129.3 billion, which is a juicy 59% slice of the country's total exports. An official shared, "24 countries with a total export of USD 129.3 billion recorded positive growth in export in April-September 2025-26 as against the same period last fiscal, amounting to a share of 59 per cent of India's exports." Overall, exports rose by 3.02% to USD 220.12 billion in these six months. Imports also grew 4.53% to USD 375.11 billion, leading to a trade deficit of USD 154.99 billion – a number that India hopes to shrink soon. But it's not all sunshine and roses. Exports to the US—the biggest trading partner in 2024-25—hit a snag. Due to hefty tariffs imposed by the US from August 27, exports to America dipped 11.93% to USD 5.46 billion in September. Still, from April to September, exports grew 13.37% to USD 45.82 billion against US imports of USD 25.6 billion (up 9%). An exporter said, "The sweeping 50 per cent tariff by the US on Indian goods is hurting exports to America, but the exporting community is pushing exports to other geographies, including Africa, Latin America and the Middle East." This new adventurous spirit is expected to continue, exploring fresh global flavors and markets beyond the US. Meanwhile, trade talks between India and the US aim to ease tensions and build a smoother path for future commerce. So, Indian exports are cooking up a global storm, diversifying with flair, and turning challenges into golden chances. Watch this space for more spicy trade stories ahead!
