Liverpool’s troubles keep mounting in the Premier League as they slipped to a fourth straight defeat on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Brentford put on a fiery show, beating the defending champions 3-2 at home. The win helped Brentford climb to 10th place, while Liverpool dropped to sixth. The match started brightly for Brentford, who took advantage of Liverpool’s weakness against Michael Kayode’s throwing skills. Kristoffer Ajer cleverly flicked on Kayode’s throw-in, setting up Dango Ouattara to volley the opening goal. Liverpool was left searching for answers. Despite being the defending champs, Liverpool looked disconnected and sluggish. Florian Wirtz nearly scored his first goal for Liverpool but shot wide inside the box. Yet, Brentford kept threatening fiercely even with less ball possession. A great save from Giorgi Mamardashvili denied Mikkel Damsgaard’s dipping effort. Moments later, Damsgaard assisted Kevin Schade, who dribbled past Ibrahima Konate and fired low to put Brentford ahead 2-0. Liverpool's defence looked shaky again. In six of their nine Premier League games this season, they have conceded two or more goals. Milos Kerkez helped reduce the gap just before halftime by turning in Conor Bradley’s cross, making it 2-1 at the break. Brentford fans were furious as the referee only allowed three extra minutes but the goal stood. In the second half, a crucial VAR call gave Brentford a penalty when Virgil van Dijk fouled Ouattara. Igor Thiago calmly scored from the spot, extending Brentford’s lead to 3-1. Mohamed Salah ended his tough six-game goal drought in style with a powerful strike off Dominik Szoboszlai’s cross in the 89th minute. But for Liverpool, it was too little, too late. The team continues to struggle after a summer of squad changes and heartbreak, including the tragic death of Diogo Jota in a car accident this July. With this loss, Liverpool could find themselves seven points behind league leaders Arsenal by Sunday, deepening the crisis. Can the Reds find their sparkle again, or will this season turn into a rollercoaster of trouble?
