Guwahati Bursts to Life with Comic Con India's Northeast Debut: Cosplay, Stars & Stories Rock the City!

Guwahati's big moment arrived on November 22 with the sparkling debut of Comic Con India in the Northeast! This first-ever event drew a lively crowd of fans, artists, and cosplayers from all around, lighting up the city with pop culture fever.
The air was buzzing as Ravi Kota, Chief Secretary of Assam, joined to kick off the festivities. Fans met the legendary Bill Golliher, famed for his work with Archie Comics. Indian art stars were also in full swing — 16 creators had irresistible booths full of fresh comic editions and cool artwork.
One shining star was Tadam Gyadu from Arunachal Pradesh. This skilled illustrator has worked with Marvel on iconic names like Spider-Man and Iron Man, along with classic Indian heroes like Nagraj and Dhruva. Assam’s very own Debojyoti Choudhury wowed the crowd with his vibrant digital art, connecting with fans across social media.
The day sparkled with exciting sessions – Studio Kapi's storytelling held everyone spellbound, while artist Rajesh Nagulakonda inspired budding creators with an energetic interactive chat. Book lovers cheered the launch of 'Raj Rahman: The Weight We Carry' by BullseyePress. Amar Chitra Katha brought Indian legends back into the spotlight, delighting all ages.
Stage shows rocked the venue! A fun WingStar activity by Tinkle got everyone involved, followed by the high-energy Unity One Crew performance. Comedian Krishnendu Paul kept the laughs rolling with his spot-on humor. Music fans swayed to Kai RJ’s cool mix of English and Japanese songs. MC Headshot closed the night with an electrifying set.
And what’s Comic Con without cosplay drama? Guwahati's biggest cosplay contest saw dazzling costumes – Deadpool, Ironman, Hellboy, and anime stars like Mitsuri from Demon Slayer and Quanxi from Chainsawman thrilled the crowd. Even gaming heroes like Azir from League of Legends made an appearance, giving fans plenty of photo ops and fierce competition for the coveted cosplay crown.
Visitors were wowed by immersive experiences like Crunchyroll’s Spy x Family and Demon Slayer-themed photo zones. The Arena reflex zones added thrilling activities for the energetic crowd.
