Get ready for smoother trade! New Delhi’s Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) dropped a power-packed update on Saturday. They announced a big step to help businesses by combining 31 customs duty notifications into one master notification. This fresh rulebook, called Notification No. 45/2025-Customs, will take charge starting November 1. CBIC called this move “a step towards simplification, transparency and ease of doing business” on its X (Twitter) handle. Imagine no more flipping through dozens of papers! Instead, all exemptions and lower customs rates that were scattered in 31 different notifications are now gathered in a single, neat document. The department also released FAQs explaining this trade-friendly decision. It says that before, businesses and customs officers had to juggle with 31 separate notifications. Now, the whole list of exemptions and reduced duty rates can be found in one place, making life easier for everyone involved. Why is this important? Because clearing imports and understanding customs rules can be a maze! By chopping the noise and complexity, CBIC is lightening the compliance load on businesses and speeding up processes. Importers can breathe easier, and customs officers can work faster. CBIC’s smart merge aims to boost India’s ease of doing business and keep trade flowing without unnecessary headaches. From November 1 onward, this single notification will be the go-to guide for customs duty benefits, simplifying exports and imports across the country.
