AP Government's Real-Time Action Plan Ready to Beat Cyclone Montha's Fury

October 29, 2025

The heat is on as Cyclone Montha approaches Andhra Pradesh! On Tuesday, Minister Nara Lokesh, who handles HRD, IT, Electronics, Communications, and Real-Time Governance, took charge at the RTGS centre. He gave a bold update: "The entire government machinery and all departments were fully prepared and functioning with 99% real-time accuracy in data and response to Cyclone Montha." Brace yourselves, around 40 lakh people are likely to face the cyclone's wrath, especially in districts like Kakinada, Konaseema, West Godavari, Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam, and Nellore. The government has declared these zones red alert. But their top mission? "Zero loss of life," Nara Lokesh said firmly. In a massive safety drive, 1,328 villages marked as high-risk saw residents moved to safer places. To shelter them, 1,906 temporary relief camps burst to life, fully stocked with supplies. And pregnant women weren’t left behind; 3,465 were safely moved and given nutritious food. Schools are joining the fight too! Nearly 15,000 schools got a holiday, and 364 places inside schools have become helpline relief camps. Nara Lokesh proudly listed the rescue power ready to roll: 11 NDRF teams, 12 SDRF teams, plus reserves stood at the edge. The army in Hyderabad waits in the wings if needed. For the cyclone’s aftermath, 145 wood-cutting teams are set to clear fallen trees quickly. Health services ramp up with 325 medical camps and 876 rapid response squads. Power blackout fears? Forget it! The government pre-positioned 11,347 electric poles and 1,210 transformers. Nearly 800 restoration teams wait to snap the power back on pronto. Diesel generators numbering 1,037 are spread out to keep hospitals and essential spots buzzing. Even giant machines—7,289 earth movers, cranes, and trucks—stand ready with the Roads and Buildings Department. All through this intense time, the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) Command Centre at the Secretariat operates nonstop around the clock. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu keeps the pulse tight, hosting 12 review meetings and calls since October 23. To keep the center in the loop, the Prime Minister’s Office stays updated, and PM Narendra Modi promises every help possible. After the cyclone hits, drone and low-altitude aerial surveys will zoom over the lands to check crop, property, and home damages. Relief and rehabilitation will roar into action faster than ever. Plus, all MLAs, MPs, and Ministers are out in the field to watch over their people. AP is fighting with high-tech tools, strong teams, and big hearts. Cyclone Montha, it’s your match!
