DTE Assam and Laghu Udyog Bharati Join Hands to Bring Students Closer to Industries

November 1, 2025

Guwahati has witnessed a thrilling step forward in education and industry joining forces! The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Assam, has signed a sparkling Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) – Purvottar Prant. This exciting event happened during the inauguration of the 13th India Industrial Fair (IIF 2025 – Udyam) held at the Veterinary College Ground, Khanapara, Guwahati. Shobha Karandlaje, the Minister of State for the Union Ministry of MSME, and Bimal Borah, Assam’s Minister of Industries & Commerce, graced the occasion. Alongside senior officials, industry leaders, and educationists, they watched as this great partnership got official. What does this mean for students? It’s a golden bridge connecting classrooms to real factories and industries! The partnership will offer engineering and technical students direct, hands-on exposure through internships, live projects, and visits to industrial units. Plus, start-up mentorship will guide young minds to become future entrepreneurs. Partha Pratim Pathak, President of LUB – Purvottar Prant, shared his excitement: "This MoU marks a new chapter for Assam’s youth. For the first time, technical education will be directly connected with industries spread across every corner of our state. Students will not only learn theories in classrooms but will now get hands-on exposure to how industries function, what technologies they use, and what skills are needed to thrive in today’s world. It is a step toward transforming education into employability and innovation into entrepreneurship — in the true spirit of Atmanirbhar Assam and Atmanirbhar Bharat." Laghu Udyog Bharati represents a whopping 850 industries across Assam and the Northeast, covering a wide range of sectors like Food Processing, Plastics, Rubber, Electrical & Electronics, Engineering, Renewable Energy, Pharmaceuticals, Printing & Packaging, Handloom & Handicrafts, Furniture, Waste Management, and Agro-based industries. This means students will have plenty of opportunities close to their homes and colleges. Pramod Kumar Mour, General Secretary of LUB – Purvottar Prant, summed it up perfectly: this collaboration will make technical education not just bookish but practical, industry-driven, and skill-focused. He believes the youth of Assam will soon become the powerful force behind the state's booming industrial future. With this vibrant new alliance, the future looks bright and buzzing for Assam's young engineers and technicians. It’s education and industry dancing together toward a stronger, smarter tomorrow!
