Panaji: Crime waves troubling Goa have sparked fiery remarks! On Thursday, BJP Goa president Damodar ‘Damu’ Naik gave a bold statement blaming the Congress party for the recent rise in law and order issues. Naik said the crime surge is just "the fruit of what was sown by previous Congress govts." Over the past months, shocking cases of assault and murder have rattled the otherwise peaceful state. Speaking to reporters, Naik declared, "What was sown by Congress over the last 60 years, the fruit of that, the fruit of Congress is now showing up. Our govt has been there in Goa only since 2012. So what you are seeing is not the result of what happened only over the last 10 years or so." He added that Goa’s growing popularity as a tourist hotspot means more people from outside the state are visiting. "As the footfall in Goa is increasing, it being a tourist destination, people from different states are coming here, coming from outside. State govt is handling all this competently," Naik insisted. However, the state government has been under heavy fire from opposition parties, especially after the daylight assault on activist Rama Kankonkar in early October, which shocked many. Critics question if the government’s claims of competence match the ground reality as locals grapple with safety concerns. With Goa's vibrant beaches attracting visitors but shadows of crime lurking, the political blame game heats up. Will the BJP prove their handling is strong, or will Congress’s alleged six decades of rule keep haunting the coastal paradise?
