Chennai Metro Runs Vital Load Test on MRTS Extension: No Trial Yet!
November 8, 2025
Exciting news from Chennai! The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is gearing up with some serious safety checks on the MRTS Phase II extension. On Friday, a load deflection test was done using a loaded wagon between Velachery and St Thomas Mount stations. This important test, handled by the Construction Department, aims to make sure the tracks can handle the stress and keep everyone safe. The safety tests will continue throughout this month to ensure the line is ready for action. CMRL also promised to keep the public and media informed if a trial run is scheduled. However, the Southern Railway’s Chennai Division made it clear there was no trial run on Friday, busting some media reports. So for now, it's only tests, no full-speed trials yet! Chennai commuters can look forward to safer and smoother rides once all tests are done.
