Nalanda University VC Sparks Global South Innovation Talks in Geneva with WIPO and South Centre
November 16, 2025
Patna’s pride, Nalanda University vice-chancellor Sachin Chaturvedi, took a whirlwind trip to Geneva, bringing India’s innovative spirit to global stages. On November 13 and 14, he spoke at the Third Expert-Level Roundtable hosted by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The event was all about boosting South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Intellectual Property and Development.
During the session on South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Innovation, Chaturvedi fired up the room by highlighting how important it is to build strong, collaborative frameworks around intellectual property. He said developing countries must have fair access to knowledge and powerful technology-transfer systems. As he explained, this is key to creating vibrant innovation ecosystems across the Global South. “He stressed the need for equitable access to knowledge, sustained capacity-building efforts and partnership models that support inclusive and sustainable development.”
But that wasn’t all! Chaturvedi also met with top officials at the South Centre, a special intergovernmental think tank focused on policy research for developing countries. Their chat zoomed in on the latest developments across the Global South, India’s growing role in South-South Cooperation (SSC), and exciting new chances to join forces on policy research.
This important meeting reaffirmed their shared goals: boosting research skills, pushing collective action among developing nations, and backing smart, evidence-based policy decisions. Thanks to Chaturvedi’s efforts, Nalanda University is shining brightly as a beacon of global cooperation and innovation-driven growth!
