A thrilling drama of fake rituals and treasure hunts unfolded in Konaraopet recently! The local police arrested three men, including a self-styled sadhu, on November 26, 2025, accused of cheating a man named Venu out of nearly ₹4 lakh. The cunning trio promised to perform special rituals at Venu's house, claiming they would remove his health problems and discover a hidden treasure of gold buried there.
According to the police, the accused—Mekala Naresh, Kadavancha Prasad, and Sadhula Devender from Rajanna Sircilla district—played their parts perfectly. They even staged a ‘snake bite’ drama during the fake ritual to add drama and fear. This trick forced Venu to cough up an extra ₹15,000 for so-called treatment expenses.
Chandurthi Inspector of Police Venkateshwarlu, leading the investigation, confirmed that they acted swiftly on Venu's complaint and arrested the trio from Nizamabad village in Konraopet mandal. The police recovered ₹3 lakh from their possession, showing how deeply they were involved in this deceitful game.
