J&K Police Launches Massive Raids Across Kashmir, Targets Jamaat-e-Islami Members to Halt Terror Support
November 27, 2025
On Thursday, November 27, 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted intense searches at the homes and places of members from the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) group. The raids spanned across seven districts in the Kashmir Valley—Shopian, Anantnag, Awantipora, Kulgam, Handwara, Budgam, Pulwama—and also rocked the capital city Srinagar.
In Srinagar, the police didn’t hold back. They raided madrassas and masjids in all city zones, leaving no stone unturned. These searches are part of an ongoing mission by the police to break down the terror support system lurking in the area. Officials stressed the aim was to stop any actions that could disturb peace and public order.
Each search team was accompanied by executive magistrates and independent witnesses, ensuring transparency in the operation.
The police made it clear that wherever they get reliable information about the presence of people or materials linked to terror or radical activities, their operations will continue relentlessly.
A key example came from Handwara, where police acted on solid info to raid the Jamia Islamia Institute in Waripora. "Electronic devices recovered during the operation have been seized and are being examined," the police informed.
In total, multiple locations across those seven districts were searched, focusing on individuals and places connected to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami. The group is outlawed under the strict Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The police described these large-scale raids as preventive strikes designed to find and shut down anyone trying to revive the activities of the banned group undercover. "All individuals with any past or present affiliation to the banned group were brought under the ambit of the searches," police added.
Besides electronic gadgets, the police also recovered documents and other materials suspected to be involved in secret activities. These seized items are now under detailed forensic and technical study.
In Awantipora, searches went deep into homes of JeI members, aiming to smash the terror ecosystem and its network of support. "During the operation, incriminating material and digital devices were recovered, and several JeI members were questioned and placed under restrictive orders," said the police.
Officials declared their firm dedication to keeping peace, stability, and public order intact in the region. The intense police action sends a strong message: no more hiding spots for terror support in Kashmir!
