Great news from Tamil Nadu! Just weeks after sending the site clearance for the Hosur airport, the government has started looking for a special consultant. This expert will prepare a Detailed Techno-Economic Report (DTER), which is like a big guidebook to build and run the airport. Why the hurry? The state wants to boost industrial growth in the area by improving air connections. Hosur's new airport will cover a whopping 2,300 acres and can handle 30 million passengers each year! It will feature one long runway, two taxiways running alongside it, and will be ready for big planes labeled as Code 4E. Plus, it will have a fancy CAT III precision landing system—perfect for landing even when visibility is very poor. TIDCO, the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation, is the main agency making this happen. They recently asked companies to send proposals to pick the right consultant. This consultant’s first job is to review survey data on obstacles around the airport site. The DTER is no small task. It must include air traffic forecasts and look at flying trends for passengers, cargo, and planes at all airports within 150 km over the last 15 years. The consultant will study how nearby airports like Bengaluru International might affect Hosur’s plans. They will also plan the needed city and airside facilities, from commercial areas to parking spots. But wait, there’s more! TIDCO wants to see if Hosur can become an 'Aerotropolis' — a city built around the airport itself. So, the consultant will check how much land is needed for this futuristic idea. The master plan will cover all airport details: runway numbers and lengths, parking spaces, Maintenance Repair and Overhaul facilities, how land will be used, and the project’s step-by-step schedule. They will also plan connections like roads and other transport. Besides all this, the consultant must complete Environmental Impact and Social Impact studies, making sure the airport supports nature and the community. With these solid plans, Tamil Nadu’s Hosur is gearing up to become a major travel and business hub. Keep your seat belts fastened!
