Drama in Diamond Harbour: BJP's Sukanta Majumdar Faces Saffron-Clad Protesters Amid Accusations
November 28, 2025
Get ready for some political tamasha in West Bengal! On Thursday, November 27, 2025, Union Minister of State and former BJP West Bengal president Sukanta Majumdar faced a fiery demonstration right in Diamond Harbour. The protesters were dressed in saffron and claimed to be BJP enthusiasts. But here’s the twist—Majumdar called them out as Trinamool Congress supporters in disguise!
“They are standing on the streets, dressed as BJP workers, wearing saffron turbans around their necks and tilaks on their foreheads, and are protesting! The person seen wearing saffron turbans in the picture is Raju, the Trinamool Congress leader from Diamond Harbour area,” Majumdar fired on social media. He even posted a photo showing the protest leader at a Trinamool Congress party office and said he had joined the ruling party.
Not to be outdone, Trinamool Congress turned the tables and branded the protests as an internal BJP feud. They claimed supporters of BJP leader Dilip Ghosh were rebelling against Majumdar, saying, “A party that can’t control its own leaders… A party whose workers revolt against their own bosses… And they dare talk about ‘fixing’ Bengal?”
Adding more spice, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari slammed the protest as an “extreme example of political bankruptcy.” He reminded everyone, “BJP workers are connected to the grassroots, they know well who is a BJP worker and who has donned a disguise with dishonest intentions to mislead people. Secondly, one cannot become a BJP worker just by draping a saffron scarf on the body; it requires a lot of sacrifice and hard work, one has to endure a lot of hardship.”
This tension unfolds in Diamond Harbour, which is represented by TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, who won the last Lok Sabha elections by over seven lakh votes. The political battleground has seen plenty of clashes; BJP leaders like MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Sankar Ghosh were attacked in North Bengal as recently as October 6, 2025.
And the soap opera doesn’t stop there! Adhikari also accused the Superintendent of Police of Purba Medinipur of working hand-in-glove with the Trinamool Congress’s advisory body, IPAC. He claimed BJP leaders and their families in the area are being forced to join TMC.
The scene is set for more fireworks in West Bengal, where political drama is as colorful as the saffron turbans on those streets of Diamond Harbour.
