Telangana High Court Demands Quick Probe Against Delay in Sigachi Factory Blast Case Killing 46
November 28, 2025
The Telangana High Court on Thursday, November 27, 2025, put the heat on police investigating the deadly Sigachi factory blast that took 46 precious lives. A Bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin ordered Patancheru Deputy Superintendent of Police Prabhakar, the case officer, to appear in court on December 9 along with all documents related to the case.
This strong direction came while hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) that highlighted the slow progress in probing the disaster. The Court expressed worry about the nearly five months of delay since the explosion that also injured 28 people. The Bench demanded the First Information Report (FIR), case diary, and all progress reports from the investigation.
The Court asked Additional Advocate General T. Rajinikanth Reddy why no real progress had been made. They questioned why no Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed, saying, "This is not a murder or rape case, rather it is a more serious case and the investigation could have been concluded by now" if a SIT was in place.
The petitioner’s counsel, Vasudha Nagaraj, also raised alarm about eight people who went missing in the blast and are believed dead, adding that police neglected this angle. She pointed out that victim families had not received the full compensation of one crore rupees promised by the State government.
She further said the Experts Committee report accused factory management of many serious safety lapses. The Additional Advocate General responded that 231 witnesses had been examined and the government is working hard to ensure full compensation is paid.
The Bench was not convinced, asking if witness statements alone could fix the guilty. They wondered if the investigation needed direct court supervision to get to the truth faster. The patience for delay seems to be running out as the Court demands swift action to bring justice to those affected by this tragic blast.
