The South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema regions will see widespread rain, including isolated heavy to very heavy showers, on November 29 and 30 due to Cyclone Ditwah. Some districts in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh may receive extremely heavy rainfall on November 30. The Cyclone Warning Centre (CWC), Visakhapatnam, said Ditwah is expected to weaken into a deep depression by the morning of December 1 and then into a depression by evening. On November 29, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an ‘orange alert’ for Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, and Rayalaseema for heavy to very heavy rain. ‘Yellow alerts’ are active for Prakasam, YSR Kadapa, and Annamayya districts. Light to moderate rain is likely at a few places in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh on November 29 and widespread rain on November 30. Some rain may also occur at one or two places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. For November 30, a ‘red alert’ warns of extremely heavy rain in Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, and Annamayya districts. ‘Orange alerts’ signal heavy to very heavy rain for Prakasam, YSR Kadapa, and Rayalaseema. ‘Yellow alerts’ cover districts like Anantapur, Sri Sathya Sai, Nandyal, Palnadu, Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna, and NTR. On December 1, ‘yellow alerts’ continue for parts of YSR Kadapa, Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore, Prakasam, Bapatla, Guntur, Krishna, Palnadu, and Tirupati. The sea will remain rough until December 1. Fishermen along the South Andhra Pradesh coast have been advised not to venture into the sea.
