DGCA Grounds Airbus A319, A320, A321 Jets Until Urgent Safety Fixes Are Done
November 29, 2025
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has banned airlines from flying certain Airbus A319, A320, and A321 aircraft until urgent safety upgrades are completed. This action follows a safety alert from Airbus after intense solar radiation was found to potentially disrupt flight control data on these planes. Airlines are rushing software updates, but older planes needing hardware changes could remain grounded. Pilots have been informed of likely flight delays and cancellations. Airbus said, "Airbus acknowledges these recommendations will lead to operational disruptions to passengers and customers. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and will work closely with operators, while keeping safety as our number one and overriding priority." The DGCA order clearly states, "This is to be ensured that no person shall operate the product which falls under the applicability of this Mandatory Modification." Passengers should expect disruptions as the airlines implement the required safety measures.
