Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is taking a big step to protect the environment by moving from diesel and petrol vehicles to a fully electric transport system. TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary said this shows the temple trust’s strong commitment to preserving nature in the holy Tirumala area. The announcement came after a review meeting in Tirupati. Experts from the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the State Transport Department, APSRTC, and TTD attended the session. Mr. Chowdary said the plan fits with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to make Tirumala a pollution-free pilgrimage spot. “Several measures are underway. Our priority is to introduce a full fleet of electric buses on the Tirumala ghat roads,” he explained. He added taxis and rental vehicles on the hill will also change over to electric vehicles gradually. Senior consultant Kunal Joshi from New Delhi gave a detailed presentation about the transition’s technical and practical sides. He told reporters that the plan will be discussed in the next TTD Trust Board meeting for final approval. This step can make Tirumala a cleaner and greener holy place while encouraging sustainable travel for millions of visitors.
