The Winter session of Parliament will begin on Monday, December 1, 2025, and last for three weeks with 15 sittings. The government will focus on its reform agenda, including a key bill to open the civil nuclear sector to private companies. The important 'The Atomic Energy Bill, 2025' aims to regulate atomic energy use in India. Other bills include the Higher Education Commission of India Bill, which sets up a commission to help universities gain independence and improve quality through better accreditation. The National Highways (Amendment) Bill will push for faster, transparent land acquisition for highways. The Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2025, proposes changes to ease doing business under the Companies Act and LLP Act. The Securities Markets Code Bill, 2025, aims to combine several laws into a single code to simplify securities market regulation. The government also plans to amend the Arbitration and Conciliation Act based on recent Supreme Court comments and legal reviews. Two bills from the last session are up for passing along with the first supplementary budget for the year. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has called a meeting with party leaders on Sunday to ensure smooth coordination during the session. The opposition is expected to challenge the government on the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in 12 states and Union territories. They also plan to raise concerns on air pollution in Delhi. The government had to drop a bill aimed at empowering the President to regulate Chandigarh due to strong political opposition.
