November 30, 2025
K.R. Nandini, Chief Executive Officer of Mandya Zilla Panchayat, checked the preparations for the upcoming Krishi Mela. The event is set for December 5 to 7 at V.C. Farm in Mandya district.
Ms. Nandini said, "A total of 50 stalls were being set up to provide adequate space for women from self-help groups (SHGs) to sell their products."
She added that 34 SHGs from Mandya and 16 from other districts will get stalls at the mela.
The SHGs in Mandya are making food products from millets. These will be sold under the new brand name ‘Siri Samruddhi’, Ms. Nandini stated.
She also said, "All district offices had been instructed to procure food products prepared by SHGs for their meetings and events in order to strengthen the economic condition of these groups."
During her inspection on November 28, Ms. Nandini reviewed the construction of the main stage and stalls. She received updates on the planned programs.
She directed the Department of Agriculture and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) staff to boost publicity. Activities like cycle rallies, bike rallies, and walkathons will create more buzz.
Ms. Nandini emphasised, "The need for creating more awareness about this among farmers and SHG members, apart from training them to use agricultural machinery through coordinated efforts by the Agriculture Department and NRLM."
Ashok, Joint Director of Agriculture, Roopashree, Mandya Zilla Panchayat Planning Director, and others joined her at V.C. Farm during the inspection.
