The Winter Session of Parliament begins today, December 1, 2025. The government aims to pass a law opening India's civil nuclear sector to private companies. The opposition plans to raise the issue of revising electoral rolls in 12 States and Union territories. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce several bills, including The Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and the Health Security and National Security Cess Bill, 2025. This session will also see Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan’s first day as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. Ahead of the session, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju held a meeting with party floor leaders to ensure smooth coordination. This Winter Session is one of the shortest, lasting just 15 days. Less than 25% of the time will be given to the opposition. The session promises to be active with key reforms and debates.
