Security forces arrested seven people on charges of extortion in Manipur, police announced on Monday, December 1, 2025. Among those arrested were three militants from banned groups. Four individuals were caught with ₹57 lakh in unaccounted cash during a routine check at Phaikoh outpost, Kamjong district on Friday, November 28. Police suspect them to have links with unknown insurgent groups. An active member of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) Progressive was arrested at his home in Khagempalli, Imphal West on Sunday, November 30. Police said he was involved in extortion from doctors, hospitals, school van associations, schools, bakery shops, gyms, and the public. Two active militants of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were also arrested from Kangla Siphai in Imphal East and Ingourok in Thoubal district on Friday, November 28.
