Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) and the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance research and academic work in marine and earth system sciences. The MoU was signed by Dr. Mahesh Kumar, Director of the Centre for Marine Living Resources and Ecology (CMLRE), and Dr. Arun A.U., Registrar of Cusat. Under this agreement, Cusat will collaborate with five major MoES research bodies: the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) in Chennai, Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) in Hyderabad, National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) in Goa, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune, and CMLRE in Kochi. The MoU allows joint supervision of research scholars, student internships, and access to national research facilities. It also opens opportunities for participation in research cruises, polar expeditions, and ocean observation missions. This collaboration aims to build capacity and deepen knowledge in marine and earth sciences.
