The Balagere–Panathur road stretch near Vibgyor School in AECS layout, Bengaluru East Corporation, has broken apart again just a month after being repaired. This same spot saw a school bus topple earlier when its wheel got stuck in an open drain. Residents say this is at least the third time in recent months that the road has worsened soon after repairs. Many are unhappy with the poor work quality. The damaged road makes it hard for vehicles, especially school buses, to pass safely. Buses often get stuck or scrape parked vehicles in the narrow lane. Parents have asked drivers to avoid using this road until it gets fixed properly. Lekha Raj, a local resident, shared that a reversing school bus almost hit an elderly pedestrian recently. Parents now suggest allowing only smaller vehicles inside the lane until the road is stable. Children lose more than 30 minutes struggling through potholes on this narrow stretch. Residents question the repairs done under MLA Manjula Aravind Limbavali’s supervision. A resident said, "The road was asphalted recently, and MLA Manjula Aravind Limbavali’s team had taken credit for completing the work. But why has it failed again within weeks?" They accuse contractors of using loose soil covered with a thin asphalt layer, causing repeated damage. Greater Bengaluru Authority Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao has repeatedly instructed engineers to use proper materials. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has visited the site several times too. Still, the problem continues. Sudeep Bhargava, a resident, demands strict action against the contractor. "Such contractors must be held accountable so it sets an example," he said. Patchwork is currently underway again on this damaged road stretch. Residents continue to call for a thorough review to ensure the road is built to proper standards for the safety of schoolchildren and all commuters.
