The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights inspected Poornima School in Jeedimetla on Monday. This came after a video surfaced showing a nursery student being assaulted by a caretaker. The video, secretly recorded by a nearby resident, showed the caretaker thrashing and kicking the four-year-old child. The child was hospitalized, and the parents filed a complaint with Jeedimetla police. The caretaker was arrested. Commission members Gogula Saritha and Marripally Chandana found alarming issues during the inspection. They reported that the school had no CCTV cameras to monitor activities. The toilets were unsafe for children. There was not enough staff to watch over the students. Also, the school lacked safety systems to manage emergencies. The commission collected updates from local police, education officials, and the child welfare committee about the probe so far. They said, "The school management acted negligently and failed to protect the children." The commission ordered strict action against the school’s management and called for a full inquiry to ensure child safety is improved. The incident highlighted major concerns about school safety and child protection at Poornima School.
