Tirupati Hotels Hit by Hoax Bomb Threat, Police Clear Premises
December 1, 2025
On December 1, 2025, police with the bomb squad inspected Raj Park and Pai Viceroy hotels near Kapila Theertham in Tirupati. The action followed an email warning of planted RDX bombs at the hotels. The alarming message claimed links to LTTE TOSIS and Karachi ISI Cells, aiming to distract from the Jaffar Sadiq Meth case.
The hotel managements received the email at 10:47 a.m. from an unknown source. They immediately informed the authorities, who formed two inspection teams led by ASI Ramesh and E. Peeraiah, along with a sniffer dog.
The teams searched all areas: rooms, dustbins, flowerpots, vehicles, kitchens, and food storage units. They also questioned guests and suspicious persons. No dangerous objects were found.
Bomb Squad DSP M. Ramakrishna organized the rapid response. Mr. Peeraiah told The Hindu, "We have been receiving many hoax bomb threats from the past one-and-half years from unidentified individuals claiming to be from Chennai and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, and some from Maharashtra. At least, five to six times the same hotels received the threatening mails. After a gap of 10 months, they got such hoax bomb threat again."
The police confirmed the email threat was a hoax and normalcy returned to the hotels by evening.
