Health Minister Urges Medical Students to Serve Poor; Criticizes YSRCP for Medical College Funds
December 1, 2025
Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family Welfare Satya Kumar Yadav urged medical students to serve poor people by working in the government health sector after finishing their education. He spoke as the chief guest at the Freshers’ Day for the 2025 batch at Dr. Pinnamaneni Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Foundation on December 1, 2025. The Minister shared a personal story about how his sister wanted him to become a doctor, but he became the Health Minister instead.
He expressed concern over declining values in the medical profession, which is highly respected by society. "Doctors will be respected only when they work with values of humanity and service," he said. He also advised students to study with dedication.
Criticizing the previous YSRCP government, Yadav said many government medical colleges launched with much fanfare lack proper facilities. "Out of the sanctioned ₹8,500 crore, the previous government spent only ₹1,550 crore," he added.
The Minister highlighted that unlike YSRCP, the TDP-led NDA government has prioritized improving infrastructure. He said this is why the government proposed a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model to run medical colleges.
This move aims to better the conditions in medical education and healthcare delivery across the state.
