Hyderabad Metro Rail, operating 57 stations across three corridors, has hired 20 transgender persons for security roles. They help passengers with directions and monitor baggage scanning. This move supports the State Government's goal of dignity, inclusivity, and equal opportunity. These trained staff started working from Monday, December 1, 2025. The metro serves about five lakh passengers daily, with women making up 30%. The initiative aims to improve security and create a supportive travel environment for all commuters, especially women.
