Hoax Bomb Threat At Bangalore Airport and Malls Sparks Police Probe
December 3, 2025
On Sunday, Bangalore city police received a threatening email claiming plans for bomb blasts at Kempegowda International Airport and several major shopping malls, including Orion Mall, Lulu Mall, Forum South Mall, and Mantri Square Mall. The threatening message, purportedly sent by the "Jaish-e-Mohammed White Collar Terror Team," warned explosions from 7 p.m. onwards. It also included a mobile number and hinted at extortion, saying authorities could call if they "want to pay and not let this happen."
Police acted swiftly, conducting standard operating procedure (SOP) drills at all mentioned locations. After thorough checks, they confirmed the threat was a hoax. An FIR has been registered against an unknown person under Section 66(F) of the IT Act for cyber-terrorism.
Authorities suspect the accused aimed to play mischief and possibly implicate others. Investigation is ongoing, with police tracing the threat sender through the email's IP address.
