December 3, 2025
As metabolic diseases rise globally, experts stressed the need to combine Ayurveda with modern medicine in a more evidence-based way. The two-day international conference on Ayurveda and Integrative Approaches to Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome ended on Tuesday, marking the 57th Foundation Day of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS).
Held by CCRAS’s Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Bengaluru with IISc and NIMHANS, the event gathered top specialists in Ayurveda, endocrinology, metabolic science, biotechnology, and molecular biology. They discussed holistic and proof-backed ways to fight obesity, diabetes, and dyslipidemia.
Rabinarayan Acharya, Director-General of CCRAS, said, “CCRAS is collaborating with prestigious institutes like IIT Delhi, IIT Chennai, IIT Jodhpur, ICAR, IISc, and NIMHANS using modern tools for a better understanding of Ayurveda.”
Navakanta Bhat, Dean at IISc’s Division of Interdisciplinary Sciences, added, “There is a need for integrative medicine for the betterment of health in the years to come.”
The conference featured plenary and parallel sessions, a symposium on Translational Science and Integrative Medicine, and a workshop on nanotechnology and molecular biology at IISc’s TCS Smart-X Hub. Experts from Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and leading Indian institutions took part, urging for validated Ayurveda treatments and stronger research partnerships to reduce the growing health burden from metabolic diseases.
