BJP Accuses Congress of Attacking Hinduism and Culture
December 3, 2025
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Congress party on Wednesday of showing contempt for Hindu beliefs and Indian cultural traditions. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi questioned whether Congress had told its Chief Ministers to attack Hindu gods and culture, pushing an 'eradication of Sanatana Dharma' agenda.
At a press conference, Trivedi called Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's comments on Hindu deities "derogatory and offensive". He said, "These remarks are unacceptable and deeply hurtful to religious sentiments." Trivedi also noted Reddy’s previous statements supporting the Muslim community and said, "We have no problem with your wholehearted support for the Muslim community. But abusing the Hindu gods and goddesses is intolerable."
Trivedi pointed out that no action was taken against an AIMIM leader in Telangana for using similar "anti-Hindu language". He also criticized Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for reportedly saying, "What is the need to say Radhe-Radhe?" when schoolchildren greeted him that way.
He asked, "Why one Congress Chief Minister was insulting Hindu deities, while another appeared to discourage children from using traditional greetings?"
Trivedi accused the DMK, an ally of Congress, of holding a conference on the "Eradication of Sanatana Dharma," which he described as a planned effort to destroy Hinduism. "It was not a mere statement, but a well-planned, well-thought-out, academic conference. In Hindi, it means the total destruction of Hinduism," he said.
He questioned Congress and Rahul Gandhi directly, asking if Congress has started pursuing a program for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma and commanded its Chief Ministers to attack Indian culture and Hindu deities. He demanded to know who is behind this "agenda."
