West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took charge of overseeing the arrangements for the first Rath Yatra at the newly constructed Jagannath temple in Digha, East Midnapore district. She personally supervised the preparations and conducted an administrative meeting with senior officials to ensure a smooth and incident-free event. Banerjee, accompanied by ministers and senior officials, inspected the one-kilometre route where the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balaram, and Devi Subhadra would be pulled by devotees. The temple, constructed by the West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation, reopened after a 15-day closure following traditional customs observed in Puri, Odisha. The premises were adorned with decorations by HIDCO, adding to the festive atmosphere.
