December 4, 2025
Private sector participation in India's defence and aerospace is growing fast, backed by strong government policies. Bharat Dynamics CMD Commodore (retired) A Madhavarao said at the Defence & Aerospace Conclave 2025 that "Private sector’s participation is growing strongly." He added, "Defence exports crossed ₹23,000 crore in 2024-25 and we are following make-in-India-for-globe strategy."
Over 3,500 organisations are registered with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) as business partners, including more than 1,500 MSMEs. Madhavarao pointed out that research and development is vital, with BDL spending nearly 6% of its turnover on R&D.
Telangana Council for Higher Education chairman V. Balakista Reddy highlighted new trends in aviation, space, and defence sectors driven by globalisation and privatisation. He noted that "Aviation sector in India is witnessing tremendous growth and education sector needs to gear up to address this huge demand." Emerging areas like air taxis and air ambulances are gaining private sector interest, creating many new job opportunities.
Adding to this, CII Telangana chairman R. Sivaprasad Reddy praised Telangana's governance model, saying it offers "swift, transparent, and industry-friendly" approvals, making the state a top choice for the aerospace and defence industry.
