44th Annual Kalasha Jyoti Procession Lights Up Indrakeeladri in Devotion to Goddess Kanaka Durga
December 5, 2025
The Kalasha Jyoti procession for Goddess Kanaka Durga was celebrated with grandeur atop Indrakeeladri on Thursday evening. This marked the 44th annual Bhavani Deeksha tradition, a spiritual event that began in 1981.
Thousands of devotees joined, carrying glowing kalashas and chanting “Jai Jai Durga”. The streets transformed into a lively scene of faith and devotion.
The Bhavani Deeksha is inspired by verses from Lalita Sahasranama praising the Goddess as Bhavānī, Bhadrāpriya, Bhaktasaubhāgya Dāyinī. It has been observed since 1981 under the guidance of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peethadhipatis. The Kalasha Jyoti procession also started that year.
The event began sharply at 6 p.m. at Satyaranayanapuram Ramakoti premises. Temple priests performed sacred rituals and placed the holy fire on a richly decorated chariot, symbolizing the divine couple.
Devotees from various regions offered Kalasha Jyotis at the temple. They enjoyed free darshan and prasadam, making it a joyous and spiritual gathering.
Temple scholars confirmed this marks the procession’s 44th year. The event continues to attract thousands, highlighting deep faith in Goddess Kanaka Durga.
