A Canadian man was arrested at the Sonauli immigration check post on the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh for trying to enter Nepal without a valid visa. Officials identified him from his passport as Vimal Dance. He was traveling from Nepal to India in a taxi when the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) stopped him on Thursday evening, December 4, 2025. Immigration authorities took him for verification. During questioning, Dance said he is originally from Mohali, Punjab. Officials found a fake stamp of the Delhi Airport Immigration Office on his passport. Sonauli SHO Ajeet Pratap Singh said, "He was preparing to travel to Canada via Nepal using a forged immigration seal. Although he holds a Canadian passport, he does not have a valid visa for India." The police lodged an FIR against him under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and sent him to jail. Officials said surveillance along the 1,751-km India-Nepal border has been increased under Operation Sindoor to stop illegal movement and infiltration.
