IndiGo's On-Time Performance Slumps to 8.5% Amid Crew Issues and Flight Cancellations
December 5, 2025
IndiGo's on-time performance (OTP) fell sharply to 8.5% on Thursday, December 4, 2025. The airline faced serious operational disruptions, mainly caused by crew shortages, leading to many flight cancellations. Usually, IndiGo runs about 2,300 domestic and international flights daily. The OTP, a key measure for airline punctuality, dropped from 35% on Tuesday to 19.7% on Wednesday, and then crashed to just 8.5% on Thursday, according to Civil Aviation Ministry data. Other airlines performed better on Thursday: Air India had an OTP of 61%, Air India Express 58.6%, Akasa Air 63%, SpiceJet 56.4%, and Alliance Air 56%. These OTP figures are based on six major airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. IndiGo’s shares slipped nearly 3%, closing at ₹5,291.45 on the BSE on Friday afternoon. This steep OTP fall is a big blow to the airline known for its punctual service.
