The Hindu in School Science Festival and Ramanujan Spark Quest, a maths and science Olympiad, will be held in Madikeri on December 13. The event will take place at Mythri Community Hall, FMC College Road, Mythri Junction. It aims to encourage scientific curiosity and mathematical talent among students in Kodagu district. Entry is free for all students. The Science Festival requires teams of two students from classes 6 to 10. They will demonstrate innovative, cost-effective working models following the Make in India theme. The event starts at 9 a.m., and teams must arrive by 8.30 a.m. Winners get cash prizes, trophies, and certificates, while all participants receive certificates of participation. The Ramanujan Spark Quest allows each school to nominate five students from classes 6 to 10. The competition includes 50 questions—30 on science and 20 on mathematics and mental ability—with a total of 200 marks. Participants have one hour to complete the test and answer by shading options on an OMR sheet. Correct answers earn four marks, wrong answers get a negative mark. Tie-breaks use math/mental ability scores. Prizes for winners and runners-up include cash, trophies, and certificates. Schools must register by December 11 by emailing participant details to mlrcir@thehindu.co.in or scanning the QR code tinyurl.com/THiSRisingStars. Excellent Moodubidire is the event's title sponsor.
