On December 5, 2025, IndiGo canceled more than 1,000 flights and stopped all departures from Delhi airport for the entire day. This move was to reboot its systems and prevent delays. The airline also canceled all domestic flights from Chennai and flights from Bengaluru to Delhi and Mumbai. Due to these cancellations, airfares across India soared, causing major travel disruptions. Thousands of passengers were left stranded at airports and turned to nearby railway stations for travel. In response, Indian Railways increased train capacities and added more air-conditioned coaches to meet the surge in demand. The government then exempted IndiGo from meeting new rules until February 10 to ease the crisis.
