The Varanasi district police have boosted security for the Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 by using advanced drones. A 10-member drone team watches over the event to protect visitors. Deputy Commissioner of Police Saravanan Thangamani said, "We are using new-generation drones. Last year, drones were used minimally. This time, we have mini, micro, and nano drones." The Mini Drone can self-charge and operate round the clock, providing nonstop surveillance. "This drone has the capability to run 24x7 and ensure constant surveillance in a region," Mr. Thangamani explained. The Macro Drone covers a wide 2-km area. It will monitor the jungle behind NaMo Ghat, the spot where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the event on December 2. Nano Drones focus on suspicious activities. If a car stays parked unusually long, the drone takes images and shares them with police to take action. "Based on the images it shares, we take action," Mr. Thangamani said. All data from the drones is immediately sent to senior police officials for quick response. This technology upgrade aims to keep the event safe and secure.
