Southern Railway will help passengers hit by IndiGo Airlines flight cancellations by running special trains and adding extra AC coaches on select routes. On December 6, one additional AC three-tier coach will be added to long-distance trains like Tiruchchirappalli-Jodhpur Humsafar Express (20482), Dr. MGR Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Express (12695), Chennai Central-Mangaluru Central Superfast Express (12601), and Chennai Beach-Mumbai CST Superfast Express (22158). For December 7, AC coaches will be added to Thiruvananthapuram Central-Chennai Central Superfast Express (12696) and Mumbai CST-Chennai Beach Superfast Express (22157). On December 10, the Jodhpur-Tiruchirappalli Humsafar Express (20481) will also get an extra AC coach. Special trains will run too: Secunderabad-Chennai Egmore (07146) at 6:40 p.m. on December 6, and Chennai Egmore-Secunderabad (07147) at 12:30 p.m. on December 7. Others include Nagercoil-Tambaram Superfast on December 7 and Tambaram-Nagercoil Superfast on December 8. This swift action aims to ease the strain on passengers facing air travel troubles.
